On Thursday, November 27th, the Greenstone Economic Development Corporation (GEDC) hosted it's fourth annual women's entrepreneurship event, Fearless & Flawless. This year's event was held at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch # 213 in Longlac; the theme was ‘From Passion to Purpose'. Whether it be a full-time business, side hustle, or hobby, no one is starting from scratch. This year's event highlighted the journey from having a business idea to, for some, being the CEO of multiple business ventures.

This year's special guest, Denise Atkinson, knows all about starting with a passion (or many passions) and building upon your own strengths. She is the Founder and CEO of Tea Horse and Tipi Connects, and is involved in several other business ventures. Denise also contributes to many organizations, actively advocating for the inclusion and empowerment of female entrepreneurs and Indigenous business owners. Not only did Denise walk participants through her impressive entrepreneurial journey, she also shared stories of her history and heritage that allowed her to inspire and connect with every guest present.

Later, while enjoying trivia questions about the community and the GEDC, guests were treated to a delicious spread of refreshments provided by Mandy Cargnelutti. The remainder of the evening involved presentations from the GEDC's Business Development Officer (BDO), Nicole Fauvelle. Guests heard about a variety of different topics and resources available for entrepreneurs. There was a lot of meaningful conversation and collaboration from all guests. Participants were able to hear about others' struggles and successes, and how many of them have taken their own passions and turned them into purpose. Special guest, Denise Atkinson, continued to add immense value to the discussions - offering more anecdotes, more suggestions, and direction for some of the participant questions. The GEDC would like to thank Denise for everything she contributed to the planning and facilitation of this event. We, along with our community, truly enjoyed having you participate this year.

The GEDC Board of Directors and staff would also like to thank the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario for their continued support, as well as the local and regional entities who contributed to the success of this year's Fearless & Flawless. Thank you to Equinox Gold - Greenstone Mine, the Municipality of Greenstone, Caisse Alliance, Westland Insurance, Barino Construction, the Geraldton Family Resource Centre, and MTW - Employment Services / Services d'emploi. We would also like to thank all of this year's new and returning Fearless & Flawless participants. We appreciated your support and hope to see you next year!
